Sleep Experts and Girl Scouts Collect More than 5,000 blankets for D-FW Homeless Shelters

December 4, 2012 - Sleep Experts announced it has collected more than 5,000 blankets for area homeless shelters during the 9th annual Share the Warmth Blanket Drive. To view photos from this year's Blanket Drive visit the Share the Gift of Sleep blog.

The company collected more blankets than ever before this year, thanks to a continuing partnership with the Girl Scouts. More than 2,000 girls, representing the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas and Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, collected blankets in their schools and communities and earned Share the Warmth patches.

The items collected, which include blankets, sheets, comforters, towels and pillows, are being distributed to three area nonprofits that help homeless families become self-sufficient: Interfaith Housing Coalition in Dallas, Presbyterian Night Shelter in Fort Worth, and The Samaritan Inn in Collin County.

"We have been truly overwhelmed this year by the generosity of the North Texas community and especially the Girl Scouts," said Christine Cook, president of Sleep Experts. "We hope this holiday gift will provide warmth, comfort and a sense of hope to those who need it most."
