SafePlace Families Receive the Gift of Sleep with 240 Mattresses Donated by Sleep Experts

Austin, Texas (PRWeb) - June 29, 2012 - Mattress retailer Sleep Experts continues its dedication to giving back to the local communities it serves by sharing the gift of sleep with families in need. In Austin they have donated 240 Tempur-Pedic? twin mattress sets and mattress protectors to SafePlace, an agency whose mission is to end sexual and domestic violence.

The mattresses will replace all the beds on SafePlace's campus, including a 105-bed emergency shelter and 40 supportive housing apartments.

"Over and over again, women coming to the SafePlace shelter tell us that they – and their children – sleep well and sleep deeply for the first time in a very long time," said Julia Spann, executive director of SafePlace. "A person who has not experienced trauma can appreciate the difference a nice, comfortable bed makes in their daily life. To a family healing from abuse, a good night's rest is even more important."

This donation is Sleep Experts' largest mattress donation to date. Through the company's Share the Gift of Sleep program, every customer's old bed is recycled and donated to families in need in partnership with local non-profit organizations.

Founded in North Texas in 2003 by former Austinites Chris and Christine Cook, Sleep Experts recently expanded to the Central Texas market, with five stores currently open in Steiner Ranch, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Sunset Valley and Arboretum West. The company expects to have 10 stores operating in the Austin market by the end of 2012.

"We are honored to share the gift of a good night's sleep with families seeking shelter at SafePlace," said Christine Cook, president of Sleep Experts. "We hope that Sleep Experts can make a small difference by providing these families some comfort and a sense of home when they need it most."
